Retail Tree Selection Dan Ziomek Sugarloaf Gardens Sunderland
Retail customers approach tree selection with a different set of priorities than arborists or tree wardens. A retail customer typically wants a tree that fits a specific space, looks attractive, and stays within budget. Arborists and tree wardens, by contrast, focus on caliper size, branch structure, and correct harvesting practices. How can we best bridge these two perspectives and satisfy both sets of needs?
The Engineering Mechanics of Tree Failure Dr. Brian Kane UMass Amherst.
Arborists apply mechanical concepts to understand tree failure. Dr. Kane will share his research on tree biomechanics that has helped the tree care industry develop a science-based tree assessment. Tree wardens, arborists, climbers, and tree workers in the field should all understand these concepts to promote a safe work environment and understanding of real versus perceived risk of tree failure to a person or property.
