Using ground penetrating radar to make informed decisions about tree management

Bryan Diehl, MCA and ISA- certified arborist based out of Pelham Massachusetts. His consulting business Root-to-Crown Arborcare LLC uses ground penetrating radar to offer insights to clients about tree roots.

Roots are a vital part of the structure and health of trees; their condition can have huge impacts on the risk that trees pose to the built environment. By using ground penetrating radar, qualified practitioners can observe tree roots quickly and non-invasively. The data collected can offer tree wardens, urban foresters, utility companies, construction professionals and others, better information to make informed decisions about tree management.
