Job Opening: Tree Warden (Appointed Position)

The Town of Boylston is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Tree Warden to manage the

care, maintenance, and removal of public shade trees and related vegetation on town property

and rights-of-way. This on-call, stipend-based position is appointed by the Board of Selectmen

and serves a vital role in public safety, environmental stewardship, and emergency response

Key Responsibilities:

• Enforce MGL c.87 (Public Shade Tree Law)

• Oversee tree planting, pruning, removal, and health inspections

• Maintain records, budgets, and tree inventory

• Coordinate with town departments and utility providers

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with MGL c.87 and c.41

• Completion of (or ability to complete within one year) the MA Qualified Tree Warden

Program

• Knowledge of arboriculture, tree health, and safety practices

• Strong communication and project management skills
